Why We Micro-chip
**Texas Litter Control has partnered with Montgomery County to try to improve your chances of getting your pet back should he/she end up in a shelter. We have raised our prices a little to cover the rising cost of supplies and to be able to include a micro-chip with every pet cat surgery. Did you know that according to a study conducted by the American Veterinary Medical Association, dogs are 2.5 times more likely and cats are a whopping 21.4 times more likely to be returned to their home from a shelter if they have a registered microchip?
Micro-chips are not a GPS device. They are a small RFID tag implanted under the skin. When someone finds an animal and turns it into a shelter or takes it to a Veterinarian, the animal can be scanned. Micro-chipped animals will return an id number when scanned. This number is registered to you through FoundAnimals.org. If you move or change a phone number, you will have your own free account to make sure your information is constantly up to date.
We still recommend a collar tag with your pet's name and your phone number for the fastest way to get your pet back.
The free microchip is not included with voucher programs or on the feral cat package.
